Many consultants will recommend only products/services that they resell.  Often, those products/services are much more expensive and more involved than your business needs.  If a consultant comes in recommending one particular product with no alternatives, find a different consultant.

Many consultants will claim to “know everything” about computers.  With the speed of developments in information technology, no one person can possibly know everything about computers.  If a consultant comes in claiming to know everything about computers.  find a different consultant.
